The most annoying thing in openSuSE10.2 is a screen saver problem. It works itself and won't to note your settings at all. No info in the Internet also. Maybe it depends on computer brand. But some laptops has a problem with it. Based on my experience if such situation happen I suggest to disable native KDE screen saver and disable 'kpowersave' program. 'xscreensaver' is running in background already. Under user start 'xscreensaver-demo' program and setup the screen saver you want from there + power saving mode.
It works well without any KDE stuff. God bless you...
